Lessons

Can I purchase lessons as a gift?

Yes. A gift card can be purchased for whatever amount you would like, for example one month of lessons would be $100, and later redeemed for lesson credit.

What happens if I miss a lesson?

This is up to the individual instructors, however they will most certainly work with you. Make up lessons are often an option.

What types of lessons do you offer?

We have a great variety of stringed instruments, including guitar, bass, mandolin, violin, banjo, and ukulele.

Payment Plans

Do you offer financing?

We do offer a financing option. Contact us for more questions, or stop by the shop to apply today!

Do you have layaway?

Yes. The Fret Shop has a 90 day layaway plan requires a down payment of at least %20 of purchase. Payments can be made at any point and in any amount before or on the due date. Your down payment will hold the item/items until the balance due date, after which a service charge of 2% of the remaining balance will be added to hold the item/items and additional 30 days. What methods of payment do you take?

The Fret Shop accepts many forms of payment including cash, check, American Express, Discover, Mastercard, Visa, Apple pay and Paypal.

Special Orders

Can I special order an item not found in shop or on the web site?

Many items can be special ordered. Whether you need a specific guitar part or a uniquely shaped hardshell case, contact us with what you are looking for, and we will be happy to see what we can do for you!

How long will my order take to arrive?

Special orders can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. This depends on the stock level of the manufacturer and availability.

Repair/Guitar Care Questions

When is the best time to leave my instrument for repair?

Any time during our open hours is fine to leave your instrument with us. We will write up a ticket and leave it for our expert repair technician to attend to. He is typically here Monday-Friday from 10-5.

My guitar only has one strap button. Can another one be installed?

Yes, this is a common service that we will be happy to do. For a standard install, the price is under $10.

Trade/Sell/Consign

Do you buy used gear?

The Fret Shop has a rotating inventory of used gear. We are happy to either buy gear outright, or to take in on as a trade towards another item. Items are accepted on a case by case basis, contact us or stop by for more information.

Do you offer consignment?

The Fret Shop does offer a consignment option. The item left with us for consignment must be left for a minimum of 30 days. Contact us for more information, or stop the shop!

Straps

Are your ukulele straps manufactured in the United States?

Many of them are! Several of our straps (Ukulele, Guitar, Mandolin etc.) are made by companies based in the United States. These brands include but are not limited to Sherrin Threads, the majority of Henry Heller, USA made straps, Gretsch, and Lakota Leathers.
