The Obi-Wan of Danzón
Mark is the co-owner of The Fret Shop, and a skilled musician having performed in many eclectic troupes around the North Alabama area. He’s classically trained in music from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and back in the day you might have seen him performing with The Frigidaires, Blue Savoy Combo or the Plymouth Satellites, but these days you’ll likely find him with his local Latin group Mambo Gris Gris, or leading the Blank Regeneration into a nostalgic rewind of Punk classics past.
Brian fixes stuff quite well, loves guitars, guns and family…and he thinks the Autoharp is the “Devil’s Instrument.” He’s an authorized service tech for Taylor, Fender and Martin guitars, but he can fix almost anything within reason. Next to Mark, he’s been with TFS the longest of anyone, so he’s got the knowledge and know-how to get the job done proper. He’s also a mean string picker in his own right, and has been known to belt out a tune or two in his gigging days with the local country act, Backwater.
Orami (a.k.a. “The Bear in the Hat”) likes to collect antique Zebra pens and listens to classic R&B Soul when he’s not talking at length to explain the finer points of protein glues vs. man-made glues in the latest Taylor models. He knows his stuff, however, so customers are always in good hands. Did we mention he can play the heck out of just about anything with strings on it? He was bassist for local R&B faves, Hot Soup, but these days you’ll find him performing with Neb or as a revolving member of the Blank Regeneration projects.

A native of San Antonio, but an island-dwelling drummer for the better part of his childhood, Craig is a longtime NoAL area resident and musician with a penchant for electric guitars, amps and effects. After almost two decades of web and database development, he now plys his IT trade for the Shop that he used to take lessons in as a kid. When he isn’t infinitely tweaking the website or helping Shop customers with friendly service and expertise, you can find him entertaining the thirsty masses with his High Octane outfit, Black Label, at select NoAL watering holes on the weekends.
Lindsey used to work at a Big Box music retailer before she came to work for us, and there she witnessed how NOT to treat potential customers, as well as the importance of actually knowing something about the products that she was selling. That’s part of the reason why she has such a good rapport with TFS customers, and why she knows her stuff more than most. Oh, and she loves her fiancée and their 2 dogs, unique hats, Laura Marling, Johnny Flynn and the Avett Brothers.
Anson is our resident bass guru, eBay sales handler and shipping guy. He’s one of the nicest cats you’d ever want to meet, and his in-depth knowledge and love of The Simpsons animated series is borderline obsessive. When he’s not handling eBay orders and taking guff from the resident curmudgeons, you’ll find him layin’ down the low end for his Metal band, Liberty In Embers.
